Canadian Olympian Camille Martens founded the Okanagan Rhythmic Gymnastics Club in the fall of 1997. We have run programs for Recreational, Performance, Interclub, Provincial, National and International levels since that time. Our club is widely known for promoting strong ethics, caring deeply for our athletes, growing beautiful leaders, enabling artistic expression, aiming for excellence and developing consistent champions.
Before moving to our current home (2515 East Vernon Road, Vernon, BC) in 2009, we ran programs at semi-permanent facilities (Sigalet Brothers Buildings, Mary Flemming Hall, Emmanuel Baptist Church) as well as through a variety of schools, the Vernon Recreation Centre, daycares and other small facilities in the Okanagan.
We have performed extensively in our own shows, displays and productions as well as for other events (fundraisers, weddings, half-time shows, galas, grand openings etc). In 2006 we established the Cirque Theatre Company as the Performing Arts Branch of our program. Every fall we present an original production at the Performing Arts Centre and have had incredible feedback regarding the quality and entertainment of these shows. We have sold over 3000 seats ever year consecutively since 2010!
Our club has a history of creating champions at all levels: Interclub, Provincial, National and International. We have produced 16 High Performance Team Pool gymnasts (ranked top 15 in Canada) who have excelled Nationally and Internationally winning medals at Elite Canada, Nationals, International Invitationals, Junior Pan Ams, Senior Pan Ams and Pacific Rim Championships. Our athletes have also represented Canada at a total of 4 World University Games and the World Championships. We aim to create learning and growth opportunities for competitive athletes at each stage of their development.
